What a fun way to see Napa! We took a ladies' trip to celebrate spring and just have a fun adventure.
This trolley was perfect for a group, small or large. We had nine ladies, and there were abt 6-7 additional riders. I'd guess 20-25 people can fit on the trolley.
Out of our group, six ladies love wine, and the other three don't. I'm not fond of wine, but I loved this tour. We had so much fun. The properties and sites are totally worth seeing. The wineries give you a pretty big discount at each place, so you can buy additional bottles to take home. So bring a little cooler bag or box to store your goods purchased.
From the other reviews, I'm not sure about the miscommunication, even though I don't drink wine, I knew we'd pay for the tour, pay the individual winery fees, and pay for a tip.
We dressed casually, but there was a birthday crowd dressed up fancy for fun. There's no dress code, but word to the wise: bring a jacket or a lap blanket it gets chilly while riding around. If you have long hair, bring a hair tie. Your wild locks will be a mess after the tour.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I booked the Napa Wine Trolley tour for my Wife's birthday. A few days prior to the date of the tour we were notified that we would have to ride in a limo bus due to the rainy weather. The limo bus was nice and added to the fun atmosphere. The tour group was a mix of people from all over the US. Our guide was Richard.
I had read some negative reviews about Richard, which I believe some people just didn't get his dry sense of humor. His humor had our group laughing throughout the day.
Back to the tour, you visit four different wineries/tasting rooms. The second stop includes lunch. The lunch consisted of salad, pizza and gelato. It was family style. By that point, the setup was great because the whole tour group was laughing and joking with each other, as if we had been friends for years.
Overall, all the wineries/tasting rooms were good. I liked how some of the stops included lesser known wineries rather than stopping at the very popular wineries. We basically had private tastings at all locations.
The reason this tour is 4 stars rather than 5 stars, comes down to price. I understand Napa is a tourist location but when you add up the price of the tour and the tasting fees, you're looking at paying around $300 per person ($125pp for the tour). I just think this tour could cost slightly less.
At the end of the day, I would definitely return and do this tour again. I would also recommend it to friends.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you for the wonderful review. We are delighted that you enjoyed the tour so much. While Napa and Sonoma both raised the tasting fee prices, with many of them in the $75 and $125 range, we try and stay under $50 as much as we can possible can with reduced tasting fees offered by many of our stops. Again thank you for your review and wonderful comments.

I booked the classic experience for 3 of my gfs on Friday 12/1 for a bday surprise unit unfortunately the morning of the bday couldn't attend so me and my gf decided to still go. We arrived at the wine trolley location at 9:55am and the trolley was there ready to go. Our tour driver Orion was extremely chill and friendly. He gave us a brief history but after the first stop we got to utilize the aux cord and it was a vibe all day.
We went to 3 wineries total and a lunch stop that also included an optional tasting. The experience was great but in my honest opinion $125 pp is a bit steep to also still have to pay tasting fees at each winery. It would be more lucrative in my opinion for the consumer to either have significant discount or tasting fee waved.
Also the last stop we went to, i felt i was being lectured and the gentlemen told us to shush multiple times.... Read the room sir we've been drinking all day! Anyways outside of that experience it was great. For lunch we went to an Italian spot that served us pizza salad and pasta. I would have rated this 10/10 but they had us all share one pie between 8/9 ppl which i thought was strange. So they gave us 3 pies total but it was shared between us so it would have made more sense for 2 pies per pizza ( Margherita, meat and mushroom) per table vs 1 of each for the amount of ppl per table.
Other than the price point and having to ask for additional pizzas it was a great experience!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Melissa B.Long Beach, CA02Apr 27, 2024
This was the highlight of our trip to Napa! After doing research on the best way to get around Napa without driving yourself we landed on the Wine Trolley. We loved that it was a unique way of getting around! We booked the classic tour which included stops at 4 venues, with lunch provided at the second stop. The entire group got to know each other very well and we were laughing like old friends before long! We did pay for tastings or bottles at all stops but lunch was provided as part of our ticket price. We knew this going in and were prepared to pay extra at all of the stops!
Sam was a great tour guide and kept the vibes up all day long. The trolley picks up and drops off at a great spot in downtown Napa so we could walk to dinner and shops after a day of wine tasting. I highly recommend this activity for anyone visiting Napa!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

The trolley tour was fun. However, the tour was extremely repetitive. We heard where Danielle Steels house and the Parent Trap house was like numerous times. I think it would have been better if they played music for more than the last 20 minutes of the tour. I'd recommend this if it was your first time in Napa.

We took the wine tour which was absolutely amazing. We visited four (4) great wineries we had never visited previously on our own. Their grounds were beautiful and wines great. If you want a window seat on the trolley, you should arrive early since seating is first come first serve. The branch seating was not bad and looking back, unless it is an extremely hot day, the window seat and the wind might not agree with everyone.

We didn't have defined plans for a Sunday in Napa so decided to give the Napa wine trolley a spin.
The way it works is that you meet up, pay (or pre-pay) and the trolley brings you to 3 or 4 different wineries around the valley. you pay the tasting fees etc. at each winery. Important note... If you or someone in your party decides not to drink at a specific winery for what ever reason, THEY ARE STILL GOING TO CHARGE YOU SOMETHING. From what I saw it was like ~ $15 for a water.
The trolley was pretty fun, it was kind of funny that at the beginning of the day everyone was so quiet and reserved but by ~3:00 the whole bus was laughing and having an absolutely wonderful time.
I'd do it again, to different wineries if that is an option.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

The tour took us through 3 different vineyards.
The first one was by far the best. It was in a literal castle and our server was amazing. He explained the wines as we tasted them. The grounds was immaculate and stunning. The wine tasting was great but not worth the 65 they charge you. If you can speed them up on the tasting take the opportunity and explore the grounds. We unfortunately did not have enough time to do so, maybe next time.
The second vineyard is where we had lunch. It was a turkey and pesto sandwich with chips, salad, and a cookie. The Salad was AMAZING, sandwich was okay, and the cookie was great! The wine pairings were just okay but the gentleman who was explaining the different kinds was great. The vineyard was a little a
Small but the inside was vell decorated and cozy.
The third vineyard was great! As far as a tour and explanation of the wines and area it was fantastic! She actually gave us a break down of the wines and history. She also took us out to the grape fields and let us pick grapes and try them. We are in harvest season so the grapes were sweet and flavorful. I wish the first vineyard had the 3rd ones tour guide. THAT would be amazing.!!
It rained while we were on the trolly. We sat in the back and it was very windy and cold. The driver (sam) was kind enough to offer us ponchos to try and stay warm and keep dry as he drove us between vineyards. The ride was amazing decide the cold and wet weather. Good music and the driver was super sweet and made sure we were as comfortable as possible considering the circumstances.
Will most definately do again!! Already planning my next trip.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michelle B.Elk Grove, CA95433Sep 12, 2023
Pros: good pick up location, cool trolley ride, friendly riders/guests
Cons: overpriced/poor value, miscommunication, driver/guide; lunch
The pickup at Oxbow Public Market is convenient and parking is free. Like others have written, the cost didn't seem worth the experience. Because of a mistake by someone at the company, the driver said, we had to take a detour to pick up 2 riders at their hotel.
They ask for dietary restrictions when you pay and I wrote in the online reservation that my friend is vegan. However, when we got to Ottimo for lunch, they did not have a vegan option for her. They said that they asked the driver if there was a vegan guest and he told them "no". Why ask when I already said that there would be a vegan guest? Why say no without confirming? They offered to make vegan salad and a vegan main dish after we sat down but the main dish never showed. My friend sat while the rest of us ate. What a disappointment!
The driver was okay. He knew his way around Napa Valley and gave some nice history and interesting facts about the area. However, he mentioned driver gratuity/tip way too often and shared a personal story that was a bit negative. Not to mention that he was wrong about there not being a vegan guest onboard.
We met folks from Florida, from the nation's capital, and from Albania. Freemark Abbey and Napa Cellars were great. And the trolley is a fun way to get around.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you for your review Michelle. Could you reach out to me when you have a chance. I don't see your reservation in our system and would love to discuss the issues further with you. While we do ask for special food requirements ahead of time and pass this information along to our lunch vendor, sometimes they miss it or its in the wrong location and does not make the manifests. I just want to follow up so that I can be sure it does not happen in the future. The lunch is Pizza and have a full restaurant so I'm not too sure why the would not have a vegan option at all.
Our tour is priced at one of the lowest priced in town. Other are charging $135 pp and then tax on top of that. Ours is a flat $125pp.
Of course sharing negative personal stories are not something that is encouraged and will of course address the issue. But in the end, we are very glad that you have a fun time on the trolley, got to meet some folks from around the world and still had a good time. Not sure why that deserves a 2 star rating. Thank you again for the feedback - Jessica T.San Jose, CA05Feb 8, 2024
The Trolley itself is really nice. Just...maybe don't go in the dead of winter. It took an hour to get up to the first winery. There is nothing blocking the freezing wind on the trolley. It was very cold. Too many people were on it to be able to sit in the inside part of the trolley.
The restaurant we went to for lunch had really great food but NO HEAT. It was broken. There was no compensation or "extras" because of that.
The last winery was at a strip mall. If you are paying $125 for the trolley and then paying for the tastings, I do expect to go to the wineries with views.
The driver was kind and nice. The first two wineries were fine.
Needless to say, we ended up having a nice time but had to have a fire to defrost ourselves when we returned to our hotel.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you for the honest review Jessica. We apologize that the weather made the tour not as enjoyable as it could be. We're glad that you enjoyed other aspects of the tour, and that the driver was nice. We do like to have a variety of stops on our tours as to have our guests experience the difference between a large winery and small boutique winery such as the last stop, which is considered a "small production" winery. That means that it is unique to where you will not find their wines out in distribution, and that's what makes it special.
